You spent months preparing for the baby.

But who was preparing you for YOU?

You researched the pram, packed the hospital bag, thought about birth. Read about feeding, nappies and sleep. You probably know exactly where the baby is going to sleep and have more muslins than any one household could reasonably need.

But how much did anyone tell you about what happens to you afterwards?

How you'll feed yourself when you're holding a newborn. What those first few days might actually feel like. How tired you might be. What recovery can look like. What your partner can actually do to help without waiting for you to delegate it. Or how strange it can feel to love your baby more than anything and still not quite recognise yourself.

We prepare women really well for having babies.

I think we need to get much better at preparing them for becoming mothers, too.

Postpartum shouldn't be another thing you're expected to figure out as you go.

I'm not interested in giving new mums another impossible routine to follow. Or a perfect postpartum diet. Or telling you that if you just meal prep, sleep when the baby sleeps and remember to “ask for help”, everything will be fine.

I want you to have useful information before you desperately need it.

Food that works in real life. People around you who actually know how to help, with some idea of what might be coming and somewhere to turn when you have a question.

Real support that remembers there is a whole human being on the other side of that baby.

That's what Nourished Village is for.
